The Foundation for Children and Youth with Diabetes, Inc. was founded in October 1999 by David Okubo, MD; Sherrie L. Hardy, RD, MS, CDE; Elizabeth Elmer and Nathan Gedge as the sponsoring organization of FCYD Camp UTADA.  FCYD Camp UTADA was founded in 1962 originally serving 14 campers with 4 volunteer staff and has grown to serve nearly 1,000 campers and 400 volunteers annually.  FCYD camping programs include four sessions of resident, summer camp; five sessions of resident, winter camp; and three sessios of resident, family camp.
 
FCYD is a not for profit, 501c3 charitable organization registered in the State of Utah. 
 
The mission of FCYD is to provide a fun, safe, educational and medically supervised camping experience for children and youth with diabetes.
 
FCYD camping programs are accredited by the American Camping Association.  FCYD camping programs are accredited through 2013 as they were last accredited in 2010.
 
FCYD camping programs are member camps of the Diabetes Education and Camping Association.  Nathan Gedge is a board member and David Okubo, MD is an advisory board member of the Diabetes Education and Camping Association.  FCYD hosted the 2007 DECA Peaks '07 Confernece and 2011 DTreat Utah programs of the Diabetes Education and Camping Association.
